Australia Wildlife, Nature and Travel

Australia Wildlife, Nature and Travel

The albums display Australia’s Wildlife, Nature and Travel photos from several states and Territories. Specifically, our first four-week expeditious trip in 2013 was to Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and Sydney. Australia is primarily a semi-arid or desert country; however, the states visited were temperate regions with grasslands and rainforests.

Australian Tour Itineraries and Accommodation

I plan and book flights, rental/hire cars, and accommodation online and in advance for all our trips. Although I avoid package tours, I book local tours and national park passes in advance, so we are not disappointed.

Moreover, our preference for accommodation depends on locality and length of stay. I prefer to book motels in small towns, holiday lodges in rural areas, and quality hotels in larger towns and cities. Also, I like my accommodation within walking distance of restaurants. And occasionally, I book B&Bs when my preferred type is not available.

We have made three Australian tours, each with several road trips and the occasional city stopover. Shown below is a brief itinerary for the first trip.

Trip 1 – Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and Sydney

In September and October 2013, we flew Qantas from London to Melbourne. Then, an eighteen-day figure-of-eight car tour centred on Melbourne. We went to Adelaide in the west and Cape Conran Coastal Park in the east. Once back in Melbourne, we flew to Hobart in Tasmania. Then, a six-day car tour visiting Strahan, Swansea, and Port Arthur to visit a few National Parks. Finally, we flew to Sydney for a two-day visit to see the city’s icons, harbour, and Royal Botanic Gardens, then back to London.
